Julia Lowther

1972-2025

Julia first met Scott when she was Director of People Development at Oracle, and they immediately found in each other a kindred spirit; a passionate belief in the impact and value of people development coupled with a wicked sense of fun, a refined wine palate and a love of all things Star Trek! They worked together on numerous programs and initiatives before joining forces at 3GHR and eventually evolving it into the Folks Talent of today.

Julia’s work was always a reflection of her: carefully and thoughtfully organised, neat, elegant and with undoubted flair. She took great care to get to know her clients, investing time and energy into connections that often developed into long-standing friendships. Trust was important to her and engagements were never transactional, but meaningful, valuable and always – always – fun.

Evidence of Julia’s creativity and architecture can be seen running through every Folks project like a stick of rock. Her colourful ideas and individual solutions have benefited thousands of managers and leaders across the globe, and her legacy will continue to touch and inspire those people as they develop deep into their careers.

Julia was a force of nature. Intellectual and curious, tough and kind, sophisticated and geeky, eloquent and sweary, affectionate and vulnerable. Her wonderful energy will be deeply missed, but we could not be more grateful to have shared in her warmth during her time with us.

Our thoughts are now with Julia’s husband Richard, her sister Rachel, her parents Barry and Carol, and her wider family.

A shining star. A bright light. A lovely person.

My shared time with Julia wasn’t necessarily a large amount, but that says it all, as I still feel like I had a connection with her.

Her presence, her humour, her intellect, her no bullshit approach – all struck every accord with me and made her a very memorable person to work with.

I loved her way. She could put you at ease, challenge you and collaborate with you all in a single sentence.

Thank you, Julia, for being you.

I am so very sorry to her family, friends and colleagues for their huge loss. Xx

I only had the pleasure of meeting Julia on a few occasions, but it was clear to me she was bright, brave, fun-loving, kind, creative and client-focused. My thoughts are with her friends and family at this very difficult time. Jackie Sykes

Julia and the team would often come together at the Hub to work, and the room was always filled with laughter, smiles, and a wonderful sense of fun. Her friendships with the team, and her deep love for Richard, were so clearly visible to anyone who saw them together. Although I knew Julia only in a professional capacity, she was the kind of person you couldn’t help but wish to call a friend. She will leave a hole in many people’s lives. Sending much love to everyone she leaves behind. You are in my thoughts.

Julia and I first met when we worked together at Oracle. It was over 25 years ago now but what I remember most about her is her laugh, how amazing she was at what she did, how much fun we had doing it, her sparkle, her energy, and of course her omnipresent red lipstick:)

We lost touch for a while and have been in and out of each others lives over the years. She was particularly supportive when I was diagnosed with breast cancer myself in 2023. I know how hard it was for her to relive those early days of diagnosis and treatment to support and be there for me.

Outside of work and during the limited time I got to spend with her I saw how deeply she loved Richard, his children and her own family and friends and how much she loved her life.

The world has lost a truly wonderful human. My love and thoughts are with Julia’s family and with you Richard.

I will never forget Julia’s warmth and humour. She was constantly curious and cared deeply for people. I personally remember first meeting her as a newly qualified coach and was so grateful for her encouragement. She touched so many peoples lives and will be missed deeply. It was such a privilege to work alongside her for a brief time. My heart goes out to Richard and her family and also the Scott and the Folks team.

It’s hard to capture Julia in just a few words, but if I had to, it would be ‘classy’. Everything she did – the way she led, the way she laughed, the way she cared – was filled with grace, intelligence, and warmth.

Julia hired me into 3GHR, and from the moment we met, I knew I was working alongside someone truly special. She was one of the most charismatic, clever, and creative people I have ever known, with a laugh that could lift any room. Her conversations always left you richer – full of insight, humour, and pearls of wisdom you carried with you.

One memory I will always treasure is how she supported me at a time when I couldn’t find a way forward. With kindness and clarity, she helped me see a new path, free from guilt and fear. I’ll be forever grateful for her generosity of spirit, her strength, and her belief in me.

I only wish she had believed in herself as much as all of us believed in her.

My deepest condolences to Richard and the family. I hope you find comfort in knowing that Julia’s spirit lives on – not only in your memories, but in the countless lives she touched with her kindness, laughter, and love.

Oh, gosh….where to start? The FolksTalent memorial page to Julia pretty much captures everything I feel. How to add more?
I first met Julia back in Oracle days when she was the talent development person helping me to build a better, more effective marketing function. She was passionate about developing people; listening, caring, probing, full of ideas, always underpinned by a wicked sense of humour, a crafty wink or smile.
Her passion to develop talent was infectious and our relationship continued as I moved to new roles and Julia joined Scott and the team at 3GHR.
To loose someone with such a zest for life, a love of people at such a young age is so unfair, so horrible. My heart goes out to Richard and her wider family.
So I will chose to think of all the fun times…..The cheeky conversations, usually over a glass of wine, with Julia, Rich, and Scott, sometimes rugby got involved, but always reminiscing and putting the ‘world to rights’. My single highlight; playing OneSpotHarry, with my management team, at the Lygon Arms in Broadway. Various IT ego’s, sitting round a large table, covered in black sooty spots, and laughing their sock off.
Love to Rich and Julia’s wider family.

I first met Julia while working at 3GHR and remember just how supportive and encouraging she was. At the time, I was struggling with confidence, but she was always there, ready to listen.

What really stood out was her warmth and fun, vibrant energy. I didn’t know Julia for very long, but she made a lasting impression. She had this joyful, sparkly presence that truly lit up the room.

I’m so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to all of Julia’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. You are in my thoughts.

The mind wide awake and at the same time the heart wide open, that was Julia.
True to her own values and at the same time keeping an eye on the requirements of the business world, that’s how Julia shaped us into a real success team in EMEA at Oracle. With her elegance, style and ambition, she was a real female boss. And even later as an external consultant, Julia brought off this incredible balance of giving all her sympathetic attention to her counterpart and at the same time smoothly keeping the golden thread in her hand.
She brought glamour, aesthetics, enjoyment and wit to our OTD “Stammtisch”, whether in Paris, London, Milan or Karlsruhe.
Dear Julia, you are missed. Thank you that our paths have crossed, and how beautiful and how sad that I can remember you.
Dear Richard, my condolences from the bottom of my heart.

As many have already said, Julia was warm, enthusiastic and great fun! I count myself lucky to have had the pleasure of meeting and working with her. Julia, you will be greatly missed.

My deepest condolences to Richard and Julia’s family and of course Scott, Alice, Nichola and Sarah.

I was lucky to have known Julia. Her humor, her laughter, her deep sensitivity behind a lighthearted air — that false sense of superficiality that was really just her way of putting others at ease, of keeping things from becoming too heavy.
She brought warmth to every relationship, and made work feel gentle.
Thank you, Julia, for everything you gave me, and for sharing your light with all of us. You will always be in my thoughts.
My heart goes out to Richard, Rachel, her parents, to all those for whom her absence leaves a deep void.

Julia was a breath of fresh air and the world is a less colourful place without her. She always made me feel welcomed and a part of her world. I’m grateful for that and only sorry I didn’t get to do it more. Much love to Richard, her family and her work family

We were both very fortunate to know Julia both professionally and personally. Julia was a big part of our lives in our early Oracle days as was Richard.

We both recall those days working with Julia as fun, a very Julia trait. She was extremely professional, knowledgeable, goal driven and all about getting stuff done. Every engagement starting with a big smile and some form of witticism.

Her resilience, courage and lust for life really shone through. Her smile and positive energy were infectious. We shared a lot of time with Julia at that time and have very happy memories.

We also have very fond memories of time spent with Julia in Singapore. Julia and Scott were on a business trip we spent time sightseeing, eating, drinking, laughing and just hanging out, it was such fun.

Julia touched so many people’s life’s, she was all about making a difference and even at the end with her Dorothy House Hospice story, truly inspiring, very brave for her to write “in true Julia style” …helping others through her experience, a selfless act that will without doubt help others long into the future.

Thank you Julia, for being you, for being in our lives, at those times, you will be sorely missed by many.

Our thoughts are with you Richard, the family and the many friends she leaves behind.

    Where to start?
I did send Julia a little “letter” not long before she left us and it was a little journey through some of the amazing times we spent together through work and play – there was always professionalism and always fun and laughter. ! I know she read it because she sent me back one word – “Stan”!! if you are in the know, you are in the know!!!

I met Julia some 30 years ago at Oracle and what a special lady! Julia was beautiful both inside and out. She was clever, sophisticated, witty and loved her career; one that definitely inspired me. I learned a lot from this beautiful lady.

She also had a beautiful singing voice; we spent many an evening singing and harmonising to Chicks and Nancy Griffith – one favourite was “I wish it would rain” and I played it full blast in my field in Ireland the day she left us. There are so many memories; I could write a book!! I left her with just a few.

Julia you have left such a huge void but be sure wherever you are, know that you are loved by so many and you will never be forgotten. Thank you for being you and I am honoured to have been your colleague and friend.

My love to Richard, all the family and everyone grieving this gorgeous lady. Sleep tight Julia xxxxxx

    Caroline
